The Real Face of Pure Hate

You wanna read what actual hate look alike? Forget all the times the lefties have accused conservatives of hate just because we have a fundamental disagreement with them about something.

If you want pure hate on display, look no further than the readers of the Huffington Post.

In a recent article on the Huffington Post, it was reported that radio and television commentator Glenn Beck had lost his voice due to vocal cord paralysis. In a ten minute video, he apologized for a lot of things and communicated some pretty introspective thoughts. He attacked no one. And he didn't claim that God had done this to him.

But check out some of the comments on the story to the Huffington Post story:

Makos62Glenn, this is God...shut up, or I make it permanent.

Mokus622Thank you Jesus!!!! Please let this be permanent......

PeriwinkleWow - I might get religion. Is this the hand of God at work??

crtt63How appropriate! Who said God doesn't have a sense of humor.

IrishRed1952Too bad it isn't permanent

admin001I am struggling with my better side to crank out some compassion for Glenn....

Ah forget it...thanks to The Powers That Be for shutting this Yakker's yap for a while.

gratnamAlmost makes me believe there is a God.

Kristi WintersHopefully it was contagious and Glenn caught it at the NRA conference.

iMissMollyIvinsIt was caused by 'the gays', 'the abortionists', and single mothers.

...and on and on and on.

I want you to remember this the next time someone claims that conservatives are the ones who are intolerant and filled with hate.

Sickening.

RIP: Donald J. Sobol

From EW.com:

Donald J. Sobol, creator of the Encyclopedia Brown series for children, died at age 87 on July 11. Over the course of his mystery writing career, which began in 1959 with Two-Minute Mysteries, Sobol wrote more than 65 books and won a special Edgar Award in 1976.

Encyclopedia Brown books were among my favorite when I was little, and have recently become a favorite of my daughter's as well.  And in a few years, I hope to spend time reading them with my son, as well.

It's a Dark, Dark Day...

From the Houston Chronicle:

'Mad Men' season 5 premiere likely delayed ... maybe until 2012

Filming on TV show "Mad Men" has been put on hold as financial wranglings between TV bosses threaten to push the next season back until 2012.

The fifth season of the program, which stars Jon Hamm and January Jones, was due to start shooting in April or May ahead of a summer TV debut.

But bosses at the network behind the show, AMC, have reportedly failed to agree a deal with the Lionsgate studio which makes the series, leading to lengthy production delays.

A start date has yet to be agreed, meaning the season premiere looks likely to be pushed back until 2012, according to the New York Times.

Storm is Homeless

From AolNews.com:

For every homeless person like Ted Williams, who rises to sudden celebrity, there is a Debbie Clark, who has experienced the heights of fame only to lose everything except her dignity.

From 1991 to 1993, Clark, using the name "Storm," was one of the stars of the hit syndicated series "American Gladiators."

The show ended its run in 1993, and Clark, now 45, doesn't receive royalties from her days as a Gladiator. All she has are photos, friendships, memories and a shattered knee.

"In '91, when we were on tour, I blew my ACL [anterior cruciate ligament] out, when we were in Hartford, Connecticut," she told AOL News.

"I went to body slam a contender, and when I had her up in the air, I deflected another contender into my left leg, so it was not only my weight and the velocity of the hit but the contender, and I totally snapped my ACL."

Now, two decades later, Clark is at her lowest ebb, having been homeless for 2 1/2 years in San Diego.

Like many women on the street, her homelessness came out of a desire to escape a bad living situation.

"I came out [to San Diego] from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, due to a domestic violence situation," she said.

Dude musta been one BadMuthaShutYoMouth if he made a habit of beating up freaking Storm. Interesting, though, that she has a degree in Psychology. I wonder what happened.

Steve McNair found dead

I hate to see this. Steve McNair seemed like one of those old school athletes who was a professional and played with a lot of heart every outing. Even though he's a Titan (the former Oilers), I found myself cheering for him when I could.

My sophomore year in college, McNair was up for the Heisman trophy when Alcorn State played Sam Houston State. It was a big deal because the game was televised, and back then Sam Houston NEVER got to be on TV. My buddies and I painted ourselves up, shirtless, and called ourselves the "barekats" for the game.

McNair came in and played an incredible game. The Bearkats ended up winning the game, but it was really special getting to watch someone play whom you could tell had a gift. It was obvious that he was going to go on to play in the NFL, and he ended up having a pretty good career in Tennessee and later Baltimore.

Thanks for the memories, Steve.
